Academic Mentor – Hounslow – September 2025 Start
Location: Hounslow, West London
Contract: September 2025 – July 2026 (Term‑Time Only)
Pay: £444.00 per week (PAYE)
Interviews: June/July 2025
Are you a high‑achieving graduate seeking classroom-based experience and considering a step into teaching?
An ambitious all-through school in Hounslow is looking to appoint an Academic Mentor to join their team from September. This Academic Mentor role is ideal for a graduate who has achieved excellent GCSEs, A-Levels, and a strong degree in a subject like English, Maths, Science, or Humanities. You’ll be working as a teaching assistant, supporting learning in the classroom and leading targeted sessions with pupils who would benefit from additional support.
As an Academic Mentor, you will be matched with subject classes where you’ve previously excelled—whether through a university degree, A-Levels or tutoring experience. You’ll be guided by class teachers and the SENCo to help deliver effective interventions and reinforce key concepts. This Academic Mentor role is a fantastic opportunity to build experience before pursuing teacher training.

- Supporting pupils in your specialist subject across KS2–KS4
- Delivering 1:1 and small‑group sessions to reinforce classroom learning
- Adapting resources to meet diverse learning needs
- Monitoring pupil progress and feeding back to teachers
We’re looking for:
- A 2:1 or above at university in your specialist subject
- A‑Level (or equivalent) at A*–B in the same subject
- GCSE grades 9–7 in relevant subjects
- Proven tutoring or classroom support experience
- Excellent communication, patience and enthusiasm
- Availability for the full 2025/26 academic year
