Core Subject Academic Mentor – Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted academic support to small groups of high-attaining students
- Support the delivery of the curriculum in core subjects (Maths, English, or Science)
- Help raise attainment and academic confidence across KS3 and KS4
- Work closely with subject teachers to identify pupil needs and plan interventions
- Implement school-wide behaviour expectations and support SEND students
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and staff
- Track progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff
- Demonstrate a clear desire to move into a teaching role
Core Subject Academic Mentor – Person Specification:
- 1:1 degree in a core subject from a top 20 UK university
- Confident, proactive, and engaging approach in the classroom
- Ability to manage behaviour positively and professionally
- Flexible and adaptable team player
- Interest in pursuing a future teaching qualification
- Excellent communication skills, particularly with parents and carers
- Located in or able to commute to Barking & Dagenham
