Job description
KS1 Teaching Assistant (Autism/ASC) – Croydon
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to support children within a Year 1 Class who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
You will be working closely with a variety of pupils in Year 1 who require support to remain focused and can at times find it difficult to regulate their emotions. The role will vary between you working 1:1 and implementing strategies to engage each pupils whilst also having opportunities to provide support to other members of the class when needed.
Extensive training and guidance are available from the school’s wider SEN team. There are a wide-range of resources available to help the incoming LSA to provide effective support.

- 2:1 or higher degree grade and excellent A-Level and GCSE grades.
- Have a strong understanding of Autism (ASC) and ideally have previous experience working in this field.
- Be dedicated and resilient and able to handle moments of challenge with a positive outlook.
- Be calm, patient and understanding and passionate about inclusive education.
- Enjoy making learning fun to inspire, motivate, engage and enthuse pupils.
- Be willing to contribute to the broader life of the school community.
- Be a team player and good communication skills.
- Graduates with aspirations of training as Teachers/Psychologists/Counsellors/Wellbeing Practitioners would be well suited to this role.
