About the Lead Practitioner of Science role:
- Lead and deliver engaging Science lessons across all key stages
- Work within a strong 8-person Science department
- Play a key mentoring role for Trainees and ECTs, sharing best practice
- Set an outstanding example in classroom teaching and behaviour management
- Drive progress and attainment in Science, ensuring curriculum is effectively followed
- Take an active role in whole-school CPD and strategic planning
- Communicate confidently with parents and carers to support student progress
- Contribute creatively to curriculum development and innovative teaching approaches
What we’re looking for in a Lead Practitioner of Science:
- 1:1 Science-related degree from a top 20 UK university
- QTS with a minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching Science
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor new teachers
- Excellent classroom management and SEND support experience
- A proactive, flexible, and creative educator
- Great teamwork and communication abilities
- Passion for raising attainment and a drive to progress to senior leadership
