Learning Support Assistant (SEND) – What’s in it for you?

Learning Support Assistant (SEND) – Role and Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to children with additional needs
• Adapt learning materials and activities to meet pupils’ individual targets
• Support children in developing confidence, social skills, and resilience
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored support strategies
• Help create a calm, inclusive classroom environment that nurtures independence
• Contribute to children’s wellbeing by encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation

Learning Support Assistant (SEND) – Person Specification

• Previous experience supporting children (school, nursery, tutoring, or youth work) is highly desirable
• A patient, empathetic, and adaptable individual with a genuine passion for supporting young learners
• Interest in SEN, child development, or pursuing a long-term career in education or psychology
• Degree holders welcome, but not essential – personality, resilience, and enthusiasm are key
