  • Salary: £18,766 – £26,799 (depending on experience)

A high-achieving secondary school in Central/East London is seeking Maths Academic Mentors to join their dynamic support team for the 2025–2026 academic year. This is an ideal opportunity for graduates looking to gain paid, hands-on experience before applying for teacher training in September 2026.

Maths Specialist - About the Role:

As a Maths Academic Mentor, you will work closely with students to raise attainment, build confidence, and promote engagement in Maths. You will support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups both inside and outside the classroom.

Whether you're set on becoming a teacher or simply want to make a difference in young people’s lives, this is a fulfilling role within a thriving school environment.

Maths Specialist - Key Responsibilities:
  • Support targeted students in Maths to boost understanding and progress
  • Help identify pupils in need of mentoring alongside school staff
  • Develop action plans and provide regular feedback on student progress
  • Encourage pupil engagement, participation, and confidence
  • Liaise with teachers, parents, and external agencies where appropriate
  • Support the wider transition into or through secondary education
Maths Specialist - The Ideal Candidate:
  • Holds a Maths-related degree or similar academic background
  • Committed, reliable, and passionate about helping young people thrive
  • Interested in applying for teacher training in 2026 (desirable but not essential)
  • Previous experience as a tutor, mentor, or TA is advantageous
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
