Primary English Support Assistant | Barking & Dagenham | September 2025 Start

A thriving and welcoming primary school in Barking & Dagenham is seeking a committed Primary English Support Assistant to join their team this September. This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about education and eager to make a real difference in children’s writing progress.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivering targeted 1:1 and small group support focused on writing

  • Helping to improve students’ writing structure, grammar, and expression

  • Assisting teachers with planning and delivering bespoke literacy interventions

  • Encouraging a love of writing among students

  • Monitoring pupil progress and reporting back to class teachers

  • Creating strong, nurturing relationships to foster a positive learning environment

We’re Looking for Someone Who:
  • Has a genuine interest in literacy and education

  • Ideally has experience working with children in a school or similar setting

  • Is proactive, empathetic, and passionate about student success

  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Is organised, reliable, and confident supporting children at different literacy levels

  • Holds (or is working towards) a qualification in English or a related subject – desirable but not essential
