SEN Teaching Assistant | Havering | September Start

Key responsibilities as an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with special educational needs

  • Lead engaging intervention sessions focused on academic and personal progress

  • Confidently manage behaviour and implement strategies in line with school policies

  • Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff across the school

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers about student progress

  • Adapt learning materials and approaches creatively to meet individual needs

  • Play a key role in improving student attainment and wellbeing

  • Take initiative in and outside the classroom, contributing to a positive school culture

What we’re looking for:

  • A Psychology or related degree from a top 20 UK university

  • Previous experience supporting students with SEND

  • A SEN Teaching Assistant who is proactive, flexible, and creative

  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence in behaviour management

  • Desire to progress into teacher training or further education-related careers

  • A true team player, eager to make a difference in Havering’s education sector
