SEND Teaching Assistant | Secondary School in Hull

Ribbons & Reeves are excited to be recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant who can support Secondary School pupils from Years 7 to 11 who have been diagnosed or are presenting traits of ASC and ADHD.
We require a SEND Teaching Assistant who can commit to working the 2024-2025 academic year and who can ideally commence in October. The role is based at a mainstream Secondary School in Hull that prides itself on offering a fully inclusive education to students.
The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will be working under the direction of the SENCO to support whole class learning or with small groups of students or on a 1:1 basis.
SEND Teaching Assistant - The Role
- Work under the direction of SENCO/teaching staff to support the delivery of quality learning and teaching of pupils with special educational needs.
- Encourage the participation of pupils in the social and academic processes of the school and enable pupils to become more independent learners.
- Work with children and young people who have a range of additional and often complex SEND for example those with ADHD, ASC, social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, moderate learning difficulties, speech language and communication needs and those who exhibit resistant behaviour.
- Undertake specified work with individuals, groups and whole classes under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher.
SEND Teaching Assistant – Job Requirements
It is essential that the post holder:
- Has a degree and can showcase strong attainment across GCSE and A-Level
- Has the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, staff, and parents/carers.
- Has a flexible and adaptable approach to both work and to the behaviours of students.
- Has a good understanding of the way children learn and previous knowledge of ASC and ADHD.
- Has good organisational skills
- Has a positive and resilient mindset
Full training and inductions will be available to new SEND Teaching Assistant along with consistent support throughout the academic year.
