SEND Teaching Assistant (Behavioural, Emotional & Academic Support) – Hendon

Start Date: October 2025

Are you a motivated and adaptable graduate seeking valuable experience supporting students with a variety of needs?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream all-boys secondary school in Hendon from October 2025. You will be working with bright and ambitious pupils aged 13–18 years old, providing behavioural support, emotional support, and academic guidance in equal measure.

SEND Teaching Assistant – Role Overview

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play an active role in helping students succeed both in and out of the classroom. This role will give you the chance to work closely with students, teachers, and support staff to deliver a well-rounded support system.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups across different subjects.
  • Assisting with managing behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Providing emotional support and helping students build confidence and resilience.
  • Encouraging academic progress in line with each pupil’s individual needs.
  • Gaining a well-rounded experience in SEND, behaviour management, and academic support.
This position is ideal for graduates considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, clinical psychology, or other education-related fields.

SEND Teaching Assistant – Candidate Requirements
  • A minimum of a 2:1 degree from a UK university.
  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable (voluntary or paid).
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient attitude.
  • A genuine commitment to supporting the wellbeing and progress of secondary school pupils.
