Humanities Academic Mentor – Haringey – September 2025 Start
Are you a Humanities graduate looking to gain experience in a secondary school before pursuing teacher training?
We’re working with welcoming secondary schools in Haringey who are keen to support ambitious Humanities graduates through a full academic year as Academic Mentors. If you’re passionate about History, Geography, RE or Politics and want to help young people develop their understanding of the world, this is an ideal opportunity.

Humanities Academic Mentor – What the School is Looking For
The ideal candidate will hold a 2:1 or higher in a Humanities-related degree (History, Geography, Politics, etc.) from a top university. You’ll need strong written and verbal communication skills, and a real desire to support young people in their academic development. Previous experience working with young people is welcomed but not essential.
Please note, you must have the right to work in the UK for the duration of this role – we are unable to offer visa sponsorship.

- Experience across Key Stages 3 and 4 within a supportive Humanities department
- Mentoring from experienced subject specialists and senior leaders
- Weekly training and tailored CPD sessions
- The chance to make a tangible difference to students’ academic journeys
- Interviews will be held in September 2025

- Supporting pupils in Humanities lessons, both in class and through small group work
- Delivering focused interventions to help students achieve target grades
- Assisting with planning, resource preparation and revision sessions
- Building positive relationships with pupils to improve engagement and outcomes
- Gaining valuable insight into school life ahead of teacher training
