Science Technician – What the Role Involves
  • Preparing and maintaining science laboratories, including equipment and resources
  • Supporting teachers during practical science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed within labs and prep rooms
  • Managing stock and ordering materials for the department
  • Assisting with demonstrations, experiments, and the smooth running of lessons
  • Using IT systems confidently to manage inventories, equipment bookings, and digital resources

Science Technician – What the School is Looking For

The ideal Science Technician will hold a 2:1 or First Class degree from a top 30 UK University, ideally in a science-related subject. Strong IT literacy is essential, as the role involves working with digital systems for lab management, stock control, and supporting innovative teaching resources. Previous experience in education or a child-centred environment is highly valued. Schools are seeking proactive, organised, and committed individuals with excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn.

Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available.

Science Technician – Salary and Contract Info
  • £444-£500 per week, pro rata to term time only
  • Contract: Full-time, long-term (September–July), term-time only
  • Opportunities for future teacher training or extended contracts following a successful placement
