SEMH HLTA | Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and differentiated learning activities tailored to the needs of SEMH learners.
- Support the planning and adaptation of lessons in collaboration with teaching staff to reflect individual learning styles and emotional needs.
- As an SEMH HLTS you will work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals (e.g. CAMHS, social workers) to provide holistic support.
- Supervise and lead a team of Teaching Assistants where required, including mentoring and developing best practices.
- Participate fully in training, supervision, and CPD opportunities relevant to SEMH and therapeutic education.
- Actively contribute to the culture of inclusivity, mutual respect, and high aspirations for all learners.
Essential
- A relevant Degree, HLTA status or equivalent.
- Proven experience working with children with SEMH or related needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Confident communicator with fluency in spoken English.
- Experience in an alternative provision or PRU setting.
- Training in trauma-informed or therapeutic approaches (e.g. Team Teach, Thrive, PACE).
