Are you a motivated and adaptable graduate looking to gain valuable experience supporting students with diverse needs?

We are recruiting on behalf of a range of Brent schools, including mainstream secondary schools and specialist SEND schools. An excellent full-time opportunity is available from October 2025. You will work with pupils aged 11–18, providing behaviour, emotional and academic support that helps each student make meaningful progress.

SEND Teaching Assistant: Role Overview
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping students achieve success in and out of the classroom. You will collaborate closely with pupils, teachers and wider support teams to deliver consistent, needs-led support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with behaviour management and promoting a calm, purposeful learning environment
  • Providing emotional support to help pupils build confidence and resilience
  • Promoting academic progress in line with each student’s individual needs and learning style
  • Developing a practical understanding of SEND strategies, including support for needs such as autism, ADHD, SEMH and speech and language needs
This role is ideal for graduates considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, clinical psychology or other education-related fields.

SEND Teaching Assistant: Candidate Requirements
  • A minimum of a 2:1 degree from a UK university
  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable (voluntary or paid)
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient nature
  • A genuine commitment to supporting the wellbeing and progress of secondary-age pupils
  • An up-to-date DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
Schools in Brent offer supportive, collaborative teams that value the contribution of graduates who are keen to learn and make a difference. You will gain invaluable hands-on experience across mainstream and special school settings, building a strong foundation for future training and career progression.
