Job description

Health & Social Care Support Assistant – Kensington & Chelsea – September 2025 Start

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a background in Health and Social Care to gain valuable, hands-on experience within a respected Sixth Form setting in Kensington & Chelsea. You will be supporting students aged 16–19 who are studying Level 2 and Level 3 Health & Social Care courses, many of whom may have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This role offers a meaningful chance to directly impact young people’s academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and personal development.

The position is particularly suited to someone who has studied Health & Social Care, Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related Social Sciences subject. Whether you aspire to build a future career in education, social care, youth work, mental health support or therapeutic services, this role provides an excellent stepping stone and a strong foundation of real-world experience.

What’s in it for you?
  • Full-time, term-time role starting immediately!
  • £105 per day (PAYE), dependent on experience
  • Ideal preparation for future careers in teaching, social care, pastoral support, youth work, or community support
  • Work with Sixth Form students across Level 2 and Level 3 pathways
  • Gain practical experience supporting learners academically and pastorally
  • Join a welcoming team with guidance from experienced SEN and subject specialists
  • Excellent transport links in Kensington & Chelsea
Role and Responsibilities In this role, you'll provide both 1:1 and small group support to Health & Social Care students, helping them understand course content, complete assignments, and apply vocational skills. You will also support learners with SEND by reinforcing their support plans, promoting independence, and ensuring they feel confident within the classroom environment. Collaboration with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff will be key as you help maintain a positive, inclusive atmosphere where all students can thrive.

Person Specification
  • A degree in Health & Social Care, Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or related field
  • Experience working with young people is desirable, whether in schools, youth work, community projects, or care settings
  • A compassionate, proactive, and patient approach
  • Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in supporting young people
