Mental Health Support Assistant | About the Role
- Full-time, long-term position running until July 2026.
- Working closely with pupils who require additional emotional, behavioural and learning support.
- Gaining practical experience for those considering careers in education, psychology or SEND support.
- Regular training and professional development built into the role.
Mental Health Support Assistant | Responsibilities
- Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND, including SEMH needs.
- Helping children regulate emotions and engage positively with learning.
- Supporting classroom activities and adapting tasks to meet individual needs.
- Working alongside class teachers and the SENDCo to support lesson delivery.
- Contributing to a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Mental Health Support Assistant | Person Specification
- A 2:1 degree from a top 20 UK university.
- A clear interest in working with children with additional needs.
- Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or similar needs is essential.
- A patient, empathetic and reliable approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
