Job description

UKS2 ECT – Enfield – September 2026

A thriving, ambitious primary school in Enfield is seeking a talented and committed UKS2 ECT to join their dedicated upper Key Stage 2 team from September 2026. This is a permanent UKS2 ECT role within a school rated Good by Ofsted, offering an outstanding environment for an early career practitioner to establish and develop their teaching within a structured, supportive, and academically driven primary setting.

About the School
This Enfield primary school is built on a culture of high expectations, purposeful teaching, and genuine care for every pupil. The UKS2 curriculum is ambitious and well-sequenced, with a strong focus on developing advanced literacy, mathematical reasoning, and critical thinking skills in preparation for secondary school. Behaviour is guided by clear, consistent whole-school frameworks that create calm, focused classrooms where pupils are ready to learn and teachers are empowered to teach. Enrichment activities including debating clubs, residential trips, STEM challenges, and arts provision reflect the school's commitment to broadening horizons and developing well-rounded young people.

What the School Offers
  • A fully structured ECT induction programme with a dedicated mentor and reduced timetable
  • Comprehensive CPD with clear pathways into subject or phase leadership
  • Robust behaviour policy with strong pastoral and SLT support at every level
  • Collaborative year group planning with a genuine commitment to manageable workloads
  • A warm, professional staff culture within a high-achieving and well-resourced primary school

The Role
As a UKS2 ECT, you will plan and deliver high-quality lessons across Year 5 and/or Year 6, using assessment and pupil progress data to inform your teaching and ensure every child is prepared for the next stage of their education. You will contribute to year group curriculum planning, support SATs preparation where relevant, engage meaningfully with parents and carers, and uphold the school's high standards of behaviour and attainment. Building strong, positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families will be central to your development as a UKS2 ECT in this school.

What the School is Looking For
This permanent UKS2 ECT position is best suited to candidates who:
  • Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or are in the final stages of a UK-recognised teacher training programme
  • Possess a strong academic background - a 2:1 degree or above from a reputable university
  • Can demonstrate classroom teaching experience within a UK primary school setting, ideally with UKS2 or upper primary experience (placements or permanent roles considered)
  • Show clear evidence of structured lesson delivery and measurable pupil progress in core subjects
  • Are confident working within established whole-school behaviour and safeguarding frameworks
  • Are legally entitled to work in the UK - the school is unable to provide visa sponsorship

This role is open to candidates completing or having recently completed formal UK teacher training only. Candidates without QTS or equivalent UK school experience will not be considered.

Salary & Contract
Outer London MPS: £37,870 to £50,474, with UPS up to £56,154. Salary will reflect ECT status on appointment, with clear progression through the pay scale as induction is completed.
