Job description

Are you a Geography Teacher ready to take the next step, or an established 2iC looking for a fresh challenge with real impact?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving secondary school as Second in Charge of Geography, playing a key role in shaping both curriculum and outcomes.

You’ll teach across KS3 and KS4, with the potential to contribute at KS5, while supporting the Head of Department in driving standards, developing schemes of work and mentoring colleagues.

This is a role where your voice matters - ideal for someone looking to step into leadership or expand their current responsibility.

Why this school stands out:
  • A strong culture of kindness, respect and inclusivity, where staff and students feel valued
  • Clear commitment to staff development, with a bespoke CPD programme and genuine progression opportunities
  • A calm, purposeful learning environment with excellent student behaviour
  • A values-driven ethos that promotes diversity, wellbeing and aspiration
  • A collaborative staff team with a real sense of community and shared purpose
  • Strong pastoral systems ensuring students feel safe, supported and heard
Geography is a vibrant subject here, with a real emphasis on bringing learning beyond the classroom through fieldwork and enrichment.

Key responsibilities:
  • Support the Head of Department in leading and developing the Geography curriculum
  • Deliver consistently high-quality teaching across KS3–KS4 (and potentially KS5)
  • Contribute to raising attainment and progress across the department
  • Mentor and support colleagues, including early career teachers
  • Help lead on fieldwork, trips and enrichment opportunities
  • Play an active role in department planning, assessment and quality assurance
If you’re passionate about Geography and ready to step into a leadership role where you can make a genuine difference, this is a fantastic opportunity to progress your career in a supportive and ambitious school.
